Description
Delicate and airy, Saponaria is a lovely filler flower for the cutting garden. Direct-seed as soon as the ground can be worked. Succession-plant every two weeks for a continual harvest. Seeds can also be started indoors 6 weeks before your last frost date. Transplant out while the weather is still cool.
Harvesting
Harvest when the flowers are halfway to fully open. Cut during the coolest part of the day to prevent wilting. Immediately after harvest, dip stems in boiling water for 7 to 10 second then place into cool water to hydrate.
