Days to maturity: 100 to 120 days
Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before your last frost date. Place in a warm area to germinate. Plant outdoors once chances of frost have passed as dahlias don't like cold temperatures. Seeds can also be directly sowed in the garden. Pinch plants once they've reached 12 inches to encourage branching for more blooms.
Tubers of your favourite blooms can be saved by digging up in the fall, storing over winter and planting the following spring.
Harvesting
Open-centered dahlias should be harvested when they're about three-quarters open, before the center becomes fluffy and dusted with pollen.
